Dust to Dust | Ash Wednesday Music

Ruth and I have recorded this wonderful Ash Wednesday Hymn. The words are courtesy of the amazing Ally Barrett, set to the tune Picardy.

We were hoping to get this done in plenty of time for people to use in online worship but everything takes so much longer in Lockdown. Please feel free to use it as part of any services you do this year. If you give us a name check that would be great but don’t feel like you have to. The visuals are from Dan Stevers who we subscribe to so please go and pay him for the rites if you use the visuals.

I am having a massive rejig of our online presence. Too many different pages for too many different projects. Ruth and I have decided to try and stash everything we do together in one place under my name. I will probably come up with a vlog about why in the next few weeks. For now, subscribe to the YouTube account with my name on in – and the custom url I set up years ago. Everything video related is going to migrate across there.

We’re also hoping to start releasing some material via streaming services like Spotify in the coming weeks and months. I’ll try to keep you up to date.

We See the Fruitful Harvest

We did a simple version of We See the Fruitful Harvest by Sam Hargreaves. It is a wonderful set of words for the modern world to the tune of We Plough The Fields and Scatter.

We have done a lot of more complicated recordings since March but we decided to do this with just an acoustic guitar and a couple of vocal tracks. We expected it to be very simple but once we heard the finished product decided to upload it to YouTube as a stand alone song.

If you would like the resources to do it yourself, they are all available from Resound. if you would like to use our version, please feel free. Atribution would be nice but not essential.

Metanoia on YouTube

As part of the revamp I was talking about in my previous ramble, Metanoia have a YouTube channel. The first video is the Alt:Worship we did at #Sanctum2020.

Why not give us a like, subscribe and all that jazz….

Because He Lives | Metanoia and Bailey

We have all given up so much in the last couple of months. However, there is one thing I’ve managed to gain from all of this. The opportunity to begin recording some music. As all of our live gigs have disappeared we have been turning to Pro Tools.

When we were asked “Can I sing on Easter Day, I was supposed to be doing it in church” it got us thinking. How do you do it via the internet?

This is one of our young people singing into his phone with me and Ruth backing. Each of the parts done in one take so it feels a bit more…. live.

Hope you like it.
